Assistant Port Health Office of Quarantine Unit at Medical Research Institute
  • Vaccinations are given for travelers who request Yellow Fever, Meningococcal and Oral Polio vaccines
  • Issue of International Vaccine cards
  • Provide health education to travelers who request vaccines and refer them to necessary facilities if needed ( eg : travelers are referred to Anti Malaria Campaign if need to get Malaria Prophylaxis)
Quarantine Unit (Central)
  • Programming, planning, implementation, supervision, and monitoring of activities of Public Health Offices at Points of Entry (Ports and airports).
  • Providing technical guidance to staff of port/airport health offices at Points of Entry (PoEs).
  • Maintain IHR core-capacities at PoEs.
  • Monitoring of implementation of IHR- 2005, Quarantine Ordinance, Food Act, National authority on tobacco & alcohol (NATA) Act, Nuisance Ordinance and Other relevant legislations.
  • Training public health staff, undergraduate and post graduate students on border health security and IHR 2005.
  • Conduct review meetings with the staff of the units under the Quarantine Unit
  • Quarantine Unit and Epidemiology Unit act as Co-National Focal Points of IHR- 2005 to coordinate with WHO and member states.
  • Improving the facilities at Quarantine Unit, Assistant Port Health office and Public Health offices at Points of Entry (PoEs).
Immigration Health Unit
  • Referring the disease positive patients of resident visa applicants to relevant Public Health Campaigns of Ministry of Health.
  • Maintaining data related to disease positive inbound migrants.
