Background

The main objective of this unit is to protect the people of Sri Lanka from disease threats of international spread. The main functions of the units include implementation of the Quarantine and prevention of diseases ordinance of 1897, and International Health Regulations (IHR- 2005).

Airport Health Office, Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) Katunayake, Airport Health Office at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, Port Health Office, Colombo Port, Office of the Assistant Port Health Officer, at MRI(vaccinations only), Port Health Office at Galle Port, Port Health Office at Hambantota Port, Port Health Office at Trincomalee Port are carrying out the disease detection, reporting, emergency preparedness activities at the point of entries(POE) under the guidance of this unit.
