Preventive measures for travellers against Yellow Fever

As the Aedes mosquito vector is present in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Health Ministry has taken strict
measures to prevent the occurrence of yellow fever in the country.

Any traveller who has visited/transited (>12 hours) through yellow fever endemic countries as
alerted by WHO, should have a Valid Certificate on Yellow fever vaccination when arriving Sri
Lanka at least 6 days prior to departure from the endemic country.

Travellers (aged 9 months and above) travelling to a yellow fever endemic country need to get
the yellow fever vaccination from Assistant Port Health Office at Medical Research Institute (MRI),
Borella (Tel: 0112675182/ 0776748237) from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. during week days (closed
during government holidays and weekend). Travellers should take this life long vaccine at least
10 days prior to embarkation.
